AAWAZ

Built like a documentary institution, not a media account.

Aawaz is a documentation and preservation initiative dedicated to preserving the stories, people, places, culture and heritage of Sikkim.

Why preservation matters

A record has to exist before it can be argued with.

Sikkim's recent past sits mostly in living memory — in the people who competed, built, farmed and governed here. Living memory has a hard limit. When it goes, it does not become history; it becomes absent, and nothing marks where it used to be. Aawaz makes the record while the people are still here to correct it.

How the work is made

A deliberate path from research to archive.

Every piece moves through the same sequence. The order is the discipline.

01
Research
Reading, sourcing and verifying before anything is filmed.
02
Field investigation
Time on the ground, with the people and places themselves.
03
Story development
Shaping what the material is actually about.
04
Production
Filming, photography and interviews.
05
Editing
Cutting for clarity, rhythm and accuracy.
06
Internal review
A second, careful read before anything goes out.
07
Publishing
Releasing the work to the public.
08
Archive
Keeping it, so it remains available for the future.
The team

The people behind the archive.

A small team that values research, craft and patience over reach.

Aawaz is built to last.

The archive is early, and says so. It grows into documentaries, publications and oral histories — to the same standards.
